Transparency and accountability are fundamental to our operations. These policies define the standards of care, privacy protections, and ethical obligations that govern every aspect of ARC\'s service delivery.
ARC requires medications brought to or used at its residential facilities to be handled safely, securely and in accordance with approved medication procedures.
Medication, including prescription medicines, over-the-counter products, supplements and herbal remedies, should not be self-administered unless specifically authorized. Personal medication brought to the facility should be declared, recorded and stored securely in accordance with approved procedures.
Where medication is prescribed, it must be authorized by a qualified medical practitioner, stored securely, documented when administered, and not self-administered unless specifically authorized.
On admission, clients should declare any medication they bring to the facility. Medication should be appropriately identified, documented and stored securely, with return or disposal handled according to approved procedures.
Medication administration or release should be documented appropriately, including relevant medicine, dosage and timing information where required. Any medication discrepancy or safety concern should be reported and reviewed promptly.
