Transparency and accountability are fundamental to our operations. These policies define the standards of care, privacy protections, and ethical obligations that govern every aspect of ARC\'s service delivery.
Confidentiality is central to effective addiction treatment. ARC's confidentiality procedures require staff, volunteers and contractors to protect client information, subject to safeguarding responsibilities, legal obligations, emergencies and authorized disclosures.
Client information is confidential. Information may be shared with the client's written consent, among authorized treatment professionals involved in care, when required by law, or when there is a serious risk of harm to the client or others.
Client information is restricted to authorized personnel and may be shared among treatment professionals involved in care where appropriate. Staff, volunteers and consultants are expected to maintain confidentiality.
Paper and electronic records should be stored securely, access should be restricted to authorized personnel, and appropriate security measures should be used to protect electronic information.
Breaches of confidentiality should be investigated and may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination where appropriate. Serious incidents may also be reported to relevant authorities or handled in accordance with applicable law.
